Ski Season Begins

The Alpin Arena Schnals officially opened its ski season on Friday, 19 September. Early snowfall provided ideal conditions for the start.

In the first few weeks, the glacier at the Alpin Arena Schnals is primarily used by ski clubs for training. Numerous competitive teams, and well-known World Cup athletes — including medal winners and Olympic champions — are preparing for the upcoming race season on the Grawand slope. A small section of the glacier is also open to private skiers.

The valley slopes will open on 29 November, expanding the ski area to 42 kilometres of pistes and 11 lifts across elevations from 2,011 to 3,212 metres. Highlights include the new glacier cable car, the eight-kilometre-long valley descent, the Leo Gurschler black run (a professional training slope for slalom and giant slalom), the Glacier Hotel Grawand, and the new restaurant and bar at the valley station.
