The Athesia Group is acquiring the remaining 50% shareholdings in Funkhaus GmbH, RMI GmbH and RMS GmbH. Following intensive discussions and careful joint deliberations, the corresponding preliminary agreement was signed recently.

For Athesia, this step represents a consistent and logical development. The Group has held a 50% stake in Funkhaus Südtirol GmbH for many years; the company operates the private radio stations Südtirol 1 and Radio Tirol. Since 2018, the Italian private broadcaster Radio Dolomiti has further complemented the Athesia Group’s broadcasting portfolio.

“Together with the management of Funkhaus Südtirol GmbH, we have been working for some time on organisational and corporate-law developments,” explains Michl Ebner, CEO of the Athesia Group. In view of profound changes in media consumption and the growing demands of the media market, it is crucial to strengthen the local media offering in a sustainable manner and to make the best possible use of synergies, with the aim of reliably supplying various channels with trustworthy information and high-quality programme content.

Against this backdrop, and together with the shareholders of RMI and RMS, it was decided to consolidate media activities within the Athesia Group.

Co-shareholder Winfrid Zuegg will remain in his role, while Karl Kleinrubatscher will ensure an orderly administrative handover over the course of this year. Programme management will continue in the experienced hands of Heiner Feuer, who will also contribute his expertise as a member of the Board of Directors, alongside Georg Ebner.
